Folklore writer Shen Mo arrives in the ancient town of Huaian for creative inspiration, just as the century-old "Yin Petition Well" at the City God Temple begins to manifest its ominous power once more: throw in a petition, and the accused will surely face retribution within seven days. Shen Mo and Su Qinghe are forced into an investigation, encountering chilling supernatural phenomena in the eerie town, including "ghost walls," messages appearing in blood, and debts being demanded in dreams. The pair discovers that behind all these hauntings lies a clandestine organization using folk rituals and ancient arts to carry out a vendetta.
